Representatives from 13 Countries Meet to Reinvigorate the LAC Regional NHA Network
May 21 2008
The Dominican Republic, site of the first Latin American and Caribbean National Health Accounts (LACNHA) Network workshop held ten years ago, hosted a seminar April 23-26, 2008 in Bayaibe to share regional experiences on NHA and subaccount work, foster the methodological standardization for regional NHA comparability, and reactivate the LACNHA Network.
Attending the seminar were representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Switzerland, and the US.
The seminar concluded with a strong commitment by participants to reactivate the LACNHA Network with representatives from the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Argentina stepping forward to comprise an initial steering committee. FUNSALUD offered to provide web management software to set up a virtual space for the Network. Much enthusiasm was generated and the group hopes to use the Network as a venue to answer questions, provide technical support, and disseminate country findings.
